NZISA is excited to be involved in the upcoming New Zealand Heritage Hockey Tournament to be held on 2nd to 5th April 2021 (Easter weekend) at the Kolmar Sports Centre in Papatoetoe in Auckland.

This newly formed event has been formed in collaboration with NZ Maori, NZ Pasifika, NZISA and Hockey NZ. The event will include men’s and women’s teams from all three organisations, with the addition of teams from the Hockey NZ Development Network making up the fourth.

The goal of the tournament is to provide an aspirational pathway for players to represent our ethnic teams, grow hockey in our organisations, allow a platform for players to be challenged and supported in hockey, showcase the best hockey players on a larger stage and ensure contribution and pathway to Hockey NZ development.

NZISA will be entering a men’s and women’s squad, and are pleased to announce that Paresh Bhikha (from North Harbour Indian Sports Club) has been selected as the women’s coach, and Yogesh Hari (from Pukekohe Indian Sports Club) has been selected as the men’s coach.

We have approached a number of players and are waiting for confirmations but still require players to complete each squad, especially the women’s. We are also looking for managers for each squad as well.

This is an exciting event to be involved in with some fantastic ethinc organisations who have tremendous support from Hockey NZ, and we look forward to partaking in this, and future, NZ Heritage Hockey Tournaments.
